Our Department is committed to providing education, opportunities, information, and resources to the university community regarding health and wellness. We strive to create an environment that promotes, encourages and supports healthy decisions and behaviors in the area of alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, stress management and other area of wellness. Our goal is to promote and help students achieve a balance of lifelong physical, emotional, social, environmental, intellectual, spiritual and cultural well-being through various services. Our services include prevention and education in the following areas: alcohol and other drug, peer education, sexual health and stress management. Working in collaboration with various university departments such as Nutrition and Physical Activity, Recreational Services, Counseling and Mental Health Services, Student Health Services, Off Campus Services, Residential Life and cultural centers, we seek to provide continuity of care, diverse programs and education for UConn students and the community.
Policy on Alcohol and Other Drugs
In accordance with the Drug Free Schools and Campuses Act passed by Congress, the University of Connecticut is required to provide enrolled students, faculty and staff with various pieces of information regarding the unlawful use of drugs or alcohol on University property. The following information describes legal sanctions, health risks, available assistance and treatment avenues as well as University-imposed disciplinary standards.
